About the Department

Mechanical Department in Anurag Engineering College is established in 2004, with a Professor and two Associate Professors and an intake of 30. Now the Department has an efficient team of 16 faculty members with a Professor, two Associate Professors and eight Assistant Professors, headed by Mr.G.Narender, M.Tech.

The Department has 12 labs which are fully equipped with latest quality machinery, equipment, tools and instruments, to meet the requirements of JNTU syllabus and AICTE Norms. The CAD/CAM Laboratory has been set up. The CAD/CAM laboratory is catering the needs of students in such a way that they will not only have exposure to the areas of Computer Aided Analysis, CAM etc, but also can do some projects.

• The Department library consists of 100 books available for faculty and students.
• The Department has taken up a lot of fabrication work for the institution over a period of time.
• The Department has been very active in organizing various programmes of general and academic interest.

From the Academic Year 2009 - 2010 the intake in B.Tech Mechanical Engineering is increased from 30 to 60. and also M.Tech (CAD/CAM) program has been introduced.

The department has good infrastructural facilitates and is equipped with full-fledged laboratories. The department also has audio-visual facilities with one LCD and two OHP's for effective teaching. The staff members are deputed to participate in workshops, conferences, and refresher courses to keep in pace with recent developments in the field of Mechanical Engineering.

• The Institute has an ISTE Faculty Chapter and the faculties of our department who are members of ISTE actively participate in the various activities of ISTE.
• The Department is organizing MECHNOMICZ. The “Mechanical Engineering Association” The main objective of Mechanical Engineering Association is to impart the technical and soft skills education and to develop the leadership qualities among the students of Mechanical Engg. Dept. The Association provides the forum to motivate the students for participating in various activities like Paper Presentation, Technical Quiz group discussion etc,
• As a beginning, Technical Quiz, Group Discussions and Seminars at Department level have been organized. Prizes have been distributed to the winners of the events as a part of the curriculum

Industrial visits are arranged for students of B.Tech 3/4 Mech. Engg. in II Semester. Students of our department actively participate in National-level Student Paper Presentation Contests being organized at various engineering colleges and universities. A few of them have been awarded in these paper presentation contests. The Department has been organizing National-level Technical Paper Presentation under the banner of Anurag Vista. Two such contests were organized in 2008 and 2009.
